Area map

How to read the map

  • Bus alightings: the thicker the line, the more people get off at stops on that street (weekday daily average, ; 500, 2,000 and 5,000 or more)
  • SkyTrain station ( average; click one to change the chart below)
  • Bus stop (within of the boundary; bigger where more people get off on weekdays)
  • StorefrontVacant ( survey)
  • Business area (BIA) boundary

Bus and SkyTrain figures include transfers. They are not direct pedestrian counts.

Key numbers

Bus and SkyTrain counts include only stops and stations within a 5-minute walk () of the area boundary. People who transfer are counted in both, so do not add the two numbers.

Where people arrive

Full list

Bus stops at the same intersection are grouped as one place, and a station’s bus bays are grouped as one too. Numbers are average daily alightings, for buses in and SkyTrain in , and include transfers. Darker cells are where more people get off within this area. "Under 5" means the source published the value as 0. "Weekend ÷ weekday" is the average of Saturday and Sunday/holidays divided by the weekday figure. The summary and the default list use only bus stops on the area’s own streets: inside the boundary or within 50 m of it (200 m for areas with fewer than 6 such stops). SkyTrain stations count within a 5-minute walk (400 m), since people get off there and walk in. The 50 m allowance is needed because the boundary follows the lots of the buildings along the street, so even stops on the street read 10–30 m away. "Also show nearby stops" adds places within a 5-minute walk (400 m). "From boundary" is the straight-line distance from the area boundary; for a group of stops, it is the nearest one. Neighbouring areas can share the same stops.

Who lives nearby

Estimates from the May 2021 census at its smallest published unit (dissemination areas, a few hundred residents each), counted by the share of each unit’s area inside the radius. Neighbouring areas have overlapping radii, so do not add areas together. Household income is for the 2020 calendar year; the median is worked out from the number of households in each income bracket (the official City of Vancouver figure is $82,000; this method gives $83,265). Census counts are randomly rounded to multiples of 5, and some values for units with few residents are not published. Results of the 2026 census come out in 2027.

Who works nearby

Large office buildings

From the Metro Vancouver 2022 office inventory, which lists only buildings with at least 10,000 sq ft (about 930 m²) of office space. Workers are estimated as office space divided by sq ft per person; with remote work, fewer people actually come in. Staff of shops, restaurants, hospitals and schools are not included.

What kinds of shops are here

Open storefronts by the City’s main business categories.

How many businesses like mine are here

"vs. average" is the trade’s share of businesses in this area divided by its share across all Vancouver areas. 1.0× equals the average; higher means the trade is more concentrated here. Employee numbers are what businesses reported when they got their licence. Health care includes therapists licensed as individuals.

Restaurants by cuisine

Restaurants, cafés and bars that volunteers added to OpenStreetMap, counted inside the area boundary, so the real number may be higher. Places with no cuisine listed are grouped as "No cuisine listed". "Open after 10 p.m." counts places with listed hours that stay open past 10 p.m. on any day. "vs. average" is the cuisine’s share of the area’s restaurants divided by its share across all 22 areas.

The storefront survey covers slightly different places each year, so changes in vacancy partly reflect changes in coverage. Stop-level bus data for 2020 and 2021 was not published. The grey dashed line is the vacancy rate across all Vancouver areas.

The City’s long-term plan

City of Vancouver building permit data (). A permit means the work may go ahead; whether and when a business actually opens can differ. Costs are the values given on the application. Applicant names are not shown. New buildings count permits within 400 m of the area boundary; permit data has no unit counts, so only the number of permits and their value are shown.
